pottermania

Haven't updated this space in a really long time. damn! Projects and college keep me so occupied I ain't to be blamed entirely. So the last book in the series by J.K Rowling, Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows is finally out and I bought the book this afternoon at a book exhibition and it set me back by just 625 bucks much less than the others who have shelled 750-975 bucks....hehehee
Finished a little less than half of the book already but soo happy when Swati told me in class that Harry doesn't die, Voldemort does and in the end Harry has four kids with Ginny Weasly I'm ready to bet. A lot of people die apparently, and till now I've encountered just Alastor 'Mad Eye' Moody's death.
Was supposed to finish Ismat Chugtai's book 'The Crooked Line' today but am currently obsessed with Potter. Ismat Chugtai (R.I.P) is a bloody brilliant author, she's really a woman of substance. Her thoughts and frame of mind is so clearly visible, no one till date and that too of Indian origin has managed to write so extensively and attractively about Indian women coming to terms with their sexuality. The first work i read of hers was a short story aptly titled 'The Quilt', a very suggestive story about two Muslim women and a supposed lesbian relationship they shared. And mind you all, Ismat Chugtai was a MUSLIM.
A respectful middle finger to all those assholes who degrade Muslims for whatever unwanted stuff they may be associated with. These politicians should be made to read some of Chugtai's works. They'd get scandalized from word one.
I'll save my rants on Chugtai's works for another post, im in a hurry to finish Harry Potter and show off to all..;)
peace out

Get Gorgeous

Whilst flipping through channels on my set top box I stopped at Channel [V] after a really long time I must add, why? because they were airing the latest episode of Get Gorgeous season 4, The hunt for India's most gorgeous woman, yells model turned VJ Pia at your face. Bleh, just another crap reality show with some anorexics slugging it out to win a coveted contract with Elite. Now what gained my attention here was one of the ten finalists, Rebecca, lived in Mahim till a few months back and I used to go for math tuition with her brother Bosco. Well she was always the skinny types, never spoke much and boy I am very surprised to see her on tv. Wonder how she persuaded her mum for permission. Apparently she wanted to model since she was three, wow I hope that was not made-up. Well now that she has gotten in all I wish her luck, can't say if she can win, the others on the show all appear to be dumb including her. There's no one with killer attitude to show off and model material types where one on looking could say "Whoa there, here's some model". Whats happening to us women of the country I wonder?
Question of the day, post your comments a.s.a.p
Whats bothering me more than the sorry state of models today is the disappearance of Bosco, Rebecca's brother who just vanished in thin air in between, a nice chap he was shy fellow.

theft

And recently there has been these series of thefts and robberies fleeting through the city like a plague. What could bother me more right now than the fact that I want to get rid of this viral fever quick as possible. But no, my building played host to two of these miscreants this morning. Now who would ever possibly think of targeting a sleepy old building more than 20 years old, who has never had anything exciting in its old existence except for maybe a two addicts and a mad man. Now these thieves (un)fortunately decided to break open a house on the first floor which has been closed for more than 15 years every since old aunty Carol expired. The thieves thought they were clever and locked all the doors of those on the first floor in the morning they managed to pick the lock but obviously didn't find anything, duh! The first floor tenets got their two minutes of fame when the cops were called, i.e. just one pot bellied constable. In all this commotion my folks forgot that i was unwell and my grandmother was busy gossiping with her old cronies, jabbering away in rapid konkani till my loud cough managed to gain her attention and I had my fill of stale info. She's watching Ganga on t.v. right now, a bhojpuri movie starring Ravi Kissen, Nagma and Amitabh Bachan, a different dialect is somewhat appealing to her and I without a trace of remorse, guilt or shame am watching along with her.

me and u and a dog named boo

Listened to this song after such a long time. Nice one too from Lobo. Will be leaving HT soon now, editor says we can continue as freelancers. Yipee! and I desperately need to go shopping. My clothes have become ancient. Went to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park this morning, got up at six in the morning!! WWF organised a clean up of a part of the forest near the Kankeri caves, the occasion being International World Environment Day today. Went about exploring a few caves with some unwanted, unknown men though they turned out to be good guides. After panting and heaving we climbed quite a bit of mountain you see, got to see about 4 of the total 109 caves.
Wonders what it would be like to be a Buddhist monk, meditating in those creepy caves.
will put up pics later whenever I find my USB cable. Read pinku's latest post, she wore a saree...of all the things in the world, not that it's bad or a sin to wear one but when taking to consideration that it was Priyanka who did it. (rofl) and she dreamed about me too, talking about food whatelse, bum like her!
I wanna see Shrek so badly yaa now!

sunday bloody sunday

This title above is from one of U2's songs which goes by the same name
I cant believe the news today
Oh, I cant close my eyes and make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? how long...

Just what I was thinking of as I read the paper this morning, another Carter Road Crash, 2 hurt. damn those assholes
Who should we blame? who can we point fingers at? those kids? their parents? peer pressure?
The 'I wanna look cool' factor?, society?, you-me? who?
can we risk more Allistair Pereira's? I think not!

Hopefully my friends agree to go to McDonalds for lunch, i want those Shrek movie toys.

Kulfi with Kookie

Just finished watching Koffee with Karan whilst i was having mixed mewad kulfi with Kookie, thats what I call my teddy, sweet who has given me company for the last month and a half when my family abandoned me and went to holiday in Goa. Ha! im not complaining though, had to stay back for the internship, for those of you who don't know I'm interning at the Hindustan Times, and no I will not write about my experiences, wont make a good read.
Today's episode had Karan quizzing Ekta Kapoor, the same bitch who has hypnotized my grandnother who in turn keeps glued to the t.v from 08:30pm till 11:30, and the irony is no matter how many times she watches the re-runs she just cannot remember who is who and where the plot has been twisted, bleh
Coming back to dinner, just had two slices of cold chicken pizza from Garcia's, leftover from my afternoon meal finished it with good old mewad from the bhaiyya on the road. :) and now im having Amul's strawberry sundae, the good lazy life comes to and end tomorrow coz my family is back Ha!
Surprisingly i'm taking a lot of time to finish reading Ismail Chugtai, damn and my house is in a complete mess, have to clean a lot lest my nana(grandmum) faints of a mild heart-ache..
tch, tch this also means that she will begin harassing me to eat again, as if I were not already overweight, sheesh and it's a pity her sister is unwell else she would have sent me some of her amazing balchao goan prawn pickle which she makes every year.
I've found some Shin Chan episodes on Bit torrent, have begun downloading, oh goodie goodie, I love Shin Chan
Listening to a lot of Missy Elliot since morning don't know why!

roland garros 2007

So finally again the event of the year is back again, Roland Garros '07 popularly known as the French Open starting tomorrow, and the war in the end is going to be fought by Federer and Nadal, wasn't that obvious, threats could come in from usual suspects like Roddick, Safin, Baghdadis, Ancic, Tommy Robredo whom i have personally seen play at the kingfisher Mumbai open last year and mind you he's pretty good and some Nikolay guy from Russia has shot up to No.4 on the current ATP rankings damn.
The girls singles are always unpredictable, last year Justine Henin Hardine took home the crown, this year too I'll bet on Justine and Martina Hingis, she's coming back in form and one should keep an eye on her and Sharapova too, the William sisters are so out of shape, i really like Venus got some style that girl. Sania Mirza winning is a distant dream, i wonder if she's even gone past the qualifying rounds, sheesh..
Till then all eyes on that adorable hunk Nadal blushes
check this pic on the left, one of my favourite topless ones :P
and this one here below is the best that they could have ever put on his web-site. Ain't he got a cute ass? hehehehe

bash

Had a bloody awesome time yesterday. After a long hiatus all of us college pals finally met up to celebrate Sneha's birthday. Went to Wanton House for dinner and frankly speaking the restaurant sucks, but hey POISON made up for the lack of gastronomical skills at that sad place.
So as planned we didn't go clubbing at Aziano, and Sneha's neighbour suggested that we go to Poison, at Bandra instead because it was supposedly Bollywood night*shudders* , sorry I ain't fond of Bollywood music at all except for a few non-filmi stuff, but I didn't have much of a choice because I was the only angrez music listener among all the others and yea Pinku too. So we go to Poison, around 10:30 and the damn place was empty save for two chicks suffering from anorexia *pukes here* We then settled on some empty couches with Sneha getting angrier by the minute lol, it turned out to be Hip-hop night *rolls on the floor laughing and tummy aching*
So every one except for Pinka and me were damn bugged coz it turned out to be hip-hop night but nothing in this world, no not even Eminem could stop Kiwi from shaking those Shakiraesque hips of hers, (pun not intended) she danced, swayed, head-banged, yea you read right, head banged to good ole' hip-hop and got me too *yikes* to dance, sheesh i hate dancing and here these girls drag me onto a floor of all hot young and old men(sadly all of them seemed to be taken) and wannabe chicks. At midnight Kiwi told the D.J to announce it was Sneha's birthday and they even flashed it out on their plasma t.v screens, Sneha loved it thankfully. We all danced till they shut shop (yes even me too got in the mood after a couple of fosters, the booze was a tad expensive at Poison)
Zayed Khan came too and then the D.J really got into the groove, played some amazing numbers towards the end. Sachin, Vishal's friend dropped a few of the girls home and Ancy as usual gawked and drooled at him throughout the journey, couldn't blame her he's got the most amazing eyes I've ever come across and he's cute too *blushes* hee hee hee
back at Pooja's place were we spent the night, Sneha, Pooja and myself downed most of the Bacardi which we gifted Sneha as a present, three bottoms up with some amazing dark chocolate cake from Dark Temptations and then we all crashed lol. Had a good sound sleep and then amazing breakfast in the next building, Sneha's place of course and again much to Ancy's delight Sachin had stayed over at Sneha's place and he dropped Kiwi, Sneha and me at Mahim, lol free ride and eye candy too.
Sneha's birthday was really memorable this year, never had so much fun in a long time, not even with some so called cool n happening friends of mine, bitches!
so long farewell and goodnite

bleh

spoke to Juju the day before yesterday when my family was supposedly to be driving down back to Bombay, but no they're still in Goa. They've extended their holiday arghh!!! :( and are going to be back on the 28th. I was sulking till Sneha called and said that she wanted to bring in her birthday at mid night, that means a rocking party at some club dunno which one though most probably it would be Aziano's at Phoenix mills. I'm so glad that there's no one at home to keep me away from clubbing hurrah!. Just hope Ancy and ghu pres make it too, then all of us friends are gonna have a blast of a life time. Yipee! party after soo long.
And Mumbai has been sidelined again since classic rockers Aerosmith have decided to give our good 'ole Bombay a miss. Stale news I know but it sucks big time, even Maiden didn't play here. Bengalaru seems to be hell bent on grabbing the rock city tag, dammit. I just hope it starts pouring so heavily there in Bangalore that the concert should get cancelled (*evil grin*) and then we can have a hearty laugh and sing in the words of Aerosmith themselves,
Dream on, dream on
Dream yourself a dream come true
Dream on, dream on
Dream until your dream come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on...

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tears
Sing with me, if its just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away

heroes

While I'm desperately waiting to see Johnny Depp act as Gregory David Roberts in Shantaram it seems they're gonna make a movie on He-Man. Wonders of all wonders, Brad Pitt's gonna play He-Man and this I definitely want to watch(even though I ain't a movie buff) because He-Man was the only super-hero cartoon besides SuperMan I would watch regularly as a kid. And Brad Pitt yelling "By the power of Gray Skull"....it just couldn't get hotter.
till then happy dieting
peace out

Exercising

Yea you read write, though i had begun walks and stuff with my friend Candice last year, we stopped in between, citing exams- a lame excuse i know. Her mum and my aunt insisted we begin again and so we started off yesterday. Today we tried walking fast at the Mahim beach but it just didn't work out. So we walked the whole length of Mahim from Hinduja hospital to Shivaji Park and back home. My feet are aching but I'm assured that I have burnt quite a few calories. Christie and Learie get married in this year and I so need to shed a few pounds to fit into a great outfit. Since my folks have left for Goa i sure have lost a bit of weight but thats because I'm too lazy to fix myself a decent meal so I'd rather not eat and today? my neighbour comes to the rescue, she told me about this diet which would not only help reduce but also clean the body of all harmful toxins. Gonna try this out and will post later whether it really helped or no. Here's the diet plan in case you want to try it out. Here goes-

Health portal e-healthcareindia.com calls it one of the most popular weight loss diets being circulated by many companies and banks among their employees. The diet aims at shedding 5-6kg a week. During each of the first seven days you must drink 10 glasses of water.

DAY 1

Your first day consists of all fruits you want except bananas. It is suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day especially water melon and cantaloupe.

DAY 2

All vegetables only. You are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the raw and cooked vegetables of your choice. There is no limit on the amount or type. Avoid oil and coconut while cooking vegetables. Have a large boiled potato for breakfast.

DAY 3

Any mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice. Any amount, any quantity, no bananas, yet and no potatoes.

DAY 4

Banana and milk. Eat as many as eight bananas and drink three glasses of milk. You can have one bowl of vegetable soup.

DAY 5

Feast day. Eat one cup of rice. You can also eat six whole tomatoes and drink 12 glasses of water to cleanse your system of the excess uric acid you will be producing.

DAY 6

All vegetables day. Eat one cup of rice and eat all the vegetables you want, cooked or uncooked, to your heart’s content.

DAY 7

The food intake consists of one cup of rice, fruit juice and the vegetables you care to consume.

This, the portal says, will help make, you five to seven kg lighter than a week ago. The programme can be repeated. However it is suggested that one rests for three days before every repetition.

Experts suggest that even more than a diet programme, it is good to follow this diet once in a while to clean the digestive system and remove toxic substances, if any.

The most important element of the programme is the 10 tall glasses of water a day. One can flavour the water with some lemon to make the drink easier. While on the programme, take only black coffee and never more than one teaspoon of oil.

Here is what happens to your body while you are on this programme and how and why it works:

Day 1: fruits are nature’s perfect food. They provide everything you can possibly want to sustain in life.

Day 2: Starts with complex carbohydrates in the form of a boiled potato. Provides energy and balance. Vegetables are virtually calorie free.

Day 3: The system is now prepared to start burning excess pounds. You will have cravings, which should start diminishing by day 4.

Day 4: Bananas and milk. Bananas are there for the potassium you have lost and sodium you may have missed the last three days. A definite loss of desire for sweets.

Day 5: Rice and tomatoes. Rice is for carbohydrates and tomatoes for digestion and fibre.

Day 6: Vitamins and fibre from the vegetables and carbohydrates from the rice.

Day 7: You may celebrate with champagne. You may also have white wine instead of champagne.

P.S – THE KEY THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT IF YOU ARE HUNGRY AT ANY TIME, THEN YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE DIET CORRECTLY.

home again

Came back home this morning from my Goan sojourn. The bus ride to Goa was terrible, there was hardly any leg space and I had a bit of a hard time since I'm tall. I came back by the volvo bus. Good leg space and air conditioned too but i would prefer the train anyday.
Had a blast at Shay's pool side party.Prior to that we had a special mass service only for us family at the foot of the casket where lay the remains of the holy saint Francis Xavier. It was a nice experience. Palmarinha is a really neat place to spend hot sunny days at Goa. Visited usual suspects(relatives) and fort Aguada after a really long time. Much to my dismay the Taj has bought out quite a huge bit of space near the beach area and so we had to find an alternate route upwards to the jail and lighthouse. Also found a virgin beach near Salcette which goes by the name of Hawain Beach. Yup you read right. Beach is amazing, sand is clean and the water too. Bought some mankurad mangoes from Mapusa. And yea how could i forget to mention Martin's Corner. Its a damn fucking amazing restaurant for Goan cuisine in the world. They server awesome fish fry and pork not to mention some exotic dishes like wild boar, porcupine, deer and frog all of which can only be ordered discreetly. The waiters wont serve these to any one who enters and asks for it, they are very tactful I feel.
Today faced my worst disaster at home. Left the tap of the washing machine running. The result? My house turned into a mini pool and since I'm alone had to clear all the mess by myself and then my friends insisted on coming over today but somehow managed to throw them off. My body's aching a lot. Result of cleaning the whole house, something which I never do let alone a tile. Managed to drain off most of the water a little bit's left will do that now.
Don't know what to have for dinner. Will probably order a pizza from Garcia's. Cant wait for my family to come back. I don't mind staying alone its loads of fun but food becomes a bit of problem. Cant decide what to eat its a pain.
Priyanka's post on our new Ghu Club blog had me in splits.
check it out here...http://www.ghuclub.blogspot.com/
will upload pics as soon as the digicam finds it way back to my pc from goa..
till then
good nite. sweet dreams
